Our Story
In 2021, NELA Supportive Communities was born out of a calling to serve those struggling with substance abuse. Guided by their faith, Bailey and Jeremy Jones sought to create a place where recovery is not just a possibility, but a reality—a place where individuals are given the chance to heal and rebuild their lives in a loving and supportive environment. As parents to six children, Bailey and Jeremy know the importance of a safe, stable home, and they’ve poured their hearts into creating that same security for individuals who need it most.
In the spring of 2024, Bailey and Jeremy purchased a house in dire need of repair—the cornerstone of their mission. The property was in poor condition, requiring extensive work to make it livable. They poured their time, energy, and faith into transforming the house from the ground up. Each room has been designed with care and purpose, ensuring that it provides a space of peace, dignity, and comfort for the people who will call it home. More than a shelter, this home will be a sanctuary—where residents are not only safe but are enveloped in an atmosphere of compassion and hope.
At NELA Supportive Communities, we believe that recovery is not just physical, but spiritual. We are here to walk alongside our residents on their journey to healing, providing not just housing, but holistic support. With God as our foundation, we strive to offer a nurturing environment where residents can rediscover their sense of purpose and self-worth. Our faith reminds us that every individual is deserving of love, dignity, and a chance for redemption.
How We Support Our Residents
At NELA Supportive Communities, our support goes far beyond providing housing. We are dedicated to equipping our residents with the tools, resources, and faith they need to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society. Our approach is comprehensive and personal, ensuring that each individual receives the care and guidance necessary for their unique journey.
Create a Safe and Stable Environment: Provide a structured, substance-free environment to help residents sustain their recovery from addiction. Ensure residents feel secure and supported, reducing the stress and instability that can trigger relapse.
Promote Accountability and Peer Support: Encourage personal responsibility through regular check-ins, house rules, and support meetings. Build a supportive community where residents can share experiences, offer encouragement, and hold each other accountable while building meaningful, faith-based relationships.
Foster Independence: Equip residents with life skills such as budgeting, cooking, and job readiness to prepare them for independent living. Encourage residents to develop goal-setting and positive routines, such as regular exercise, healthy eating, and time management.
Reintegration into Society: Help residents transition back into the community through employment support, volunteer opportunities, and social reintegration.
Provide Emotional and Spiritual Growth: Offer access to counseling, spiritual guidance, and emotional support to nurture overall well-being.

Our Future Vision
While completing our first home is a significant milestone, Bailey and Jeremy have an even larger vision for NELA Supportive Communities. With the addition of two new board members, Logan Shoemaker and Trei Bradford, our organization is growing in strength and capacity to serve more individuals in need.
Our plan is to expand across Northeast Louisiana, opening more homes and creating a network of support that includes housing, job training, spiritual care, and emotional guidance. By growing our reach, we can extend our impact and help more individuals find healing, stability, and a sense of purpose.
